Wavell Heights Suburb Profile

Wavell Heights Suburb profile from a Brisbane Buyers Agents on the ground point of view hands-on review of the suburb, the properties and the people.

Wavell Heights Suburb Description

Located only 8kms north of the Brisbane CBD, containing three schools, emerging cafe culture, art houses and parks directly linking to the Kedron Brook Bikeway, this is a suburb built for professional families.

Known as “West Nundah” until 1941, the local postmaster made the call to split the suburb due to a booming population of returned servicemen settling in the suburb.

Large park areas, such as Kalinga Park, local shops on all surrounding arterial roads and good bus services making for a family-friendly community.

There are two large shopping centres within easy reach, Toombul Shopping Centre and Westfield Chermside which is one of the biggest shopping centres in the Southern  Hemisphere. Combined with quick access to the Gateway Motorway and Brisbane Airport, this is a suburb in a perfect location.

As the suburb is elevated, many parts of Wavell Heights have city views.

The rail network runs on the border of the suburb which will take you into the city within 15 minutes.

There is very easy access to the Brisbane Tunnel network which can take you under the city to the Southern Suburbs, the Western Suburbs, South to the Gold Coast or directly to the airport.

The majority of the properties are 40 years plus in age with a high percentage being brick and tile homes on block sizes in excess of 500 m2.
